How to send a PDF from your computer to your phone
A ticket, a discount code, a contract to sign on the go or a document to show at an office – you often need a file from your computer on your phone. Instead of e-mailing it to yourself or plugging in a cable, scan a QR code and download the file straight from your computer.
- Choose the file on your computer
Drop the PDF in the box above – a QR code appears.
- Scan the code with your phone
Use your phone’s regular camera. The PDFowo page opens in the browser.
- Save the file on your phone
Once downloaded, save the file, share it or open it in the editor.
How it works
The file travels over a direct, encrypted connection between your devices (WebRTC). The server only helps to set up the connection and cannot see the file, because the connection data is encrypted with a key stored in the QR code.
Tips
- it works most reliably when the computer and the phone are on the same Wi-Fi network
- keep the page with the QR code open until the download finishes
- several phones can scan the same code
- you can send several files at once – up to 500 MB in total
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install an app?
No. A regular web page opens in the phone’s browser. It works on Android and iPhone.
Is the file stored on a server?
No. The file goes directly from the computer to the phone and is not stored anywhere.
What if the connection fails?
Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network and generate a new QR code with the “New QR code” button.
