How to split a PDF and save selected pages

Sometimes you need only a few pages of a long document: one invoice from a statement, a single chapter or the page with the signature. Split PDF creates a new file containing only the pages you select, and the original stays untouched.

  1. Load the document

Drop the PDF file in the box above. You will see thumbnails of all pages.

  2. Choose the pages

Click the thumbnails or type page numbers and ranges, e.g. 1-3, 5, 8-10.

  3. Check the order

The number on each thumbnail shows the order in which the page goes into the new file.

  4. Save the new PDF

Download a document containing only the selected pages.

Examples

  • taking one invoice out of a file covering the whole year
  • sending only the signed page of a contract
  • splitting a handbook into chapters
  • separating attachments from the main letter

Page ranges in practice

Separate ranges with commas. Typing “1-3, 7” creates a four-page file: pages one, two, three and seven. The “Select all” button is useful when you want to leave out just a few pages.

Frequently asked questions

Does splitting remove pages from the original file?

No. The original stays as it is, and the selected pages are saved as a new, separate document.

Can I save the pages in a different order than in the original?

Yes. The order in the new file follows the order in which you select the pages, as shown by the number on each thumbnail.

How do I remove just a few pages from a document?

The Delete pages tool is more convenient – there you select the pages to throw away rather than the ones to keep.
